Hi, I’m Jason 👋
I live in beautiful Port Noarlunga on South Australia’s Fleurieu Peninsula.
I’m a reefing enthusiast with a love for making things—whether it’s growing coral frags or bringing digital designs to life with my 3D printer and laser cutter.
My passion for design and fabrication goes way back to high school, where I studied technical drawing (yep, on paper!) and did work experience with a local drafting firm. Since then, I’ve dabbled in CAD and, with the rise of 3D printing, rediscovered my love for turning ideas into real-world creations.
…What is briny?
ChatGPT gave me a good definition…
Briny means salty or resembling the sea. It’s often used to describe things that taste like saltwater or have a connection to the ocean.
From there, It’s not too hard to then make the leap from briny to the main subject of this site – creating 3D printed and laser cut acrylic goods (“bits”) for the reefing community.
How did I start reefing?
You can read more about my reefing journey and even pick up a coral frag (if your local) over at https://frags.au.
Why create an online shop?
Relax. I’m not trying to compete with or push out any of the online stores or local fish shops (LFS) that sell 3D printed things.
I enjoy making things and if what I design and make is useful to others I’m happy to share.
I only sell items I have personally designed (I like simple and to be able to make modifications as needed).
For many years I’ve contributed to the WordPress community and have worked in the eCommerce space so it’s also a way to dog-food the products I contribute to.
